Dog Grooming Software That Prices the Way Groomers Quote

A doodle and a dachshund are not the same job. Pet Ops prices every service by size band, sets the duration by size as well as the price, and books against a groomer's real schedule. Grooming runs on the same platform as boarding and training, on the same pet record.

Where Grooming Software Usually Goes Wrong

Most systems let you create one service called Full Groom and give it one price. That is not how a groomer quotes. A full groom on a small dog and a full groom on a standard poodle are different work, different time, and different money.

So the workaround starts. You create Full Groom Small, Full Groom Medium, Full Groom Large, and Full Groom XL. Then you do it again for the bath. Then again for the de-shed. Four services become twenty rows, and every price change means finding all four copies.

Pet Ops treats size as its own axis. You define your bands once, in your own wording, then fill in a grid. Five services across four bands is five services and one price list, not twenty near duplicate entries.

The Pet Ops grooming schedule for one day, with a column per groomer, an unassigned column, and appointments colour coded by status from booked through ready for pickup.

One Price List, Priced by Size

You set the bands. Call them Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large, or call them by weight the way your menu already reads. Each service gets a price and a duration per band, because a bigger dog takes longer as well as costing more. The schedule uses that duration, so a large doodle books the time it actually needs.

A service that does not vary by size stays flat. A nail trim is a nail trim. You are not forced into bands you do not want.

Add-ons work the same way. Teeth brushing and a nail grind can be flat, and anything that genuinely scales with the dog can be priced by band too.

What the Client Reads at the Counter

Invoice line descriptions are generated from your policy, never typed by a staff member. That matters because the line description is what the client reads on the card reader while they are paying.

A groomer's note about a matted coat or a dog that can be mouthy is real, useful information. It is groomer information. Handling notes stay internal and never reach an invoice.

Booking Against a Real Schedule

Groomers do not all work the same days at the same place. Availability is set per groomer, per location, per weekday, with effective dates and time off. One groomer can work Tuesday at one location and Thursday at another.

You can run appointment times or a drop-off model with a daily capacity, whichever matches how you actually take dogs in. Owners can request a time in the portal, and staff confirm. Requests that arrive without a groomer land in an unassigned queue instead of disappearing.

Money at the Front Desk

Grooming collects nothing up front. There is no client card on file, and no client is ever auto charged. The appointment settles at the counter like every other module.

Late cancellation and no-show fees are calculated from your policy against the price that was quoted, not against whatever the catalog says today. Staff confirm or override the fee before it goes on the invoice. A prior no-show count shows on the owner at booking time, so the front desk knows before it happens again.

Tips and per groomer commission are handled where the money is, and grooming always writes its own invoice rather than appending to a boarding one.

Prepaid Packages, Shared With Daycare

Sell six full grooms up front and the credits sit on the owner. At checkout the credit is applied instead of the price. Staff see the remaining balance at the counter.

This runs on the same prepaid credit ledger daycare uses, so a facility selling both is not learning two systems. Packages are scoped to a service and a size band, which means a pack of medium full grooms cannot quietly be spent on an extra large one.

One Pet Record, Every Service

The dog being groomed is the same record as the dog that boards with you and the dog enrolled in your training program. Vaccination status, flags, handling notes and owner contact details are not re-entered per module.

A family can request a bath before pickup when they book the stay. That request is tracked through the stay, and boarding checkout warns if it is still sitting unassigned, so nobody goes home unwashed.

The Rest of the Grooming Cluster

Built by Operators

Pet Ops was built inside a real board-and-train facility, under real operational pressure. Grooming is the newest module on that platform. It was specified against published salon price lists and real front desk problems. The platform it sits on follows one rule: if a workflow exists, it is because somebody needed it on a Tuesday morning.
