Twice a Week Is the Norm, Not an Edge Case

Puppy foundations often run Tue/Thu or Mon/Wed. Facilities that only support "weekly on start date" end up with wrong session counts or manual calendar surgery every cohort.

Operators need: pick weekdays, derive session count from program duration × days per week, publish N dated rows, edit individual rows when life happens.

How Class Days Interact With Start Date

The start date's weekday is always included and locked. Add additional weekday chips. Session count defaults from program duration — six weeks at two days per week suggests twelve sessions — but manual overrides stick once edited.

Publish walks forward from start date, emitting dates that match selected weekdays until session count is satisfied. A Thursday start with Tue added interleaves Thu → Tue → Thu across weeks.

Why "No Recurrence Engine" Is a Feature

Recurrence rules look elegant in demos and fracture in production. "Skip July 4" on a recurring rule sometimes moves the wrong instance. Staff stop trusting the calendar.

Concrete rows per cohort mean: cancel session four, shift session five's time, add a make-up — each action targets one row. Reporting and attendance stay honest.

Operational Guardrails

Changing start date after publish may require the date to fall on a selected class day — otherwise you get a hard validation error instead of a silent broken pattern.

Per-session edits live on the operations roster drawer, not buried in admin setup. Trainers fixing a single holiday should not reopen catalog configuration.

Scenario: Holiday Week

A Tue/Thu puppy cohort publishes twelve sessions. Week three includes Independence Day on Thursday. Staff cancel the Thursday row or move it to Friday on the roster board. Other sessions untouched. Owners see the update on the schedule they already bookmarked.
