Switching to Pet Ops is Safe and Staged

We can bring over owners, pets, and upcoming stays as long as you can export a CSV or Excel file. Everything is previewed before anything is committed.

Supported Migration Path

Our migration process follows a simple, controlled workflow that you're in charge of:

1

Export CSV/XLS from your current system

Export your data in CSV or Excel format from your existing software.

2

Upload to Pet Ops

Upload your export files through our secure migration portal.

3

Validate & Preview

Review counts, check for validation issues, and see exactly what will be imported.

4

Fix Data (if needed)

If there are issues, fix them in your source system and re-export. Re-import is safe and designed for iteration.

5

Final Import & Cutover

Once you approve, we import everything and you're ready to go. No production writes until you approve the preview.

What Migrates with High Confidence

Owners/Customers + Pets

All owner contact information, pet profiles, medical records, and relationships are transferred accurately.

Upcoming Reservations/Stays

Boarding and training reservations with dates, services, and special instructions.

What's Optional/Best-Effort

Past Invoices/History

Historical invoices are imported as "legacy/read-only" records. Package and pricing mapping is optional and done carefully with your approval. We preserve your legacy invoices intact—no forced remapping.

What Happens After You Export?

Our migration process is broken down into clear phases so you always know what's happening:

Phase 1: Upload Exports

Upload your CSV/Excel files through our secure portal. We support multiple file formats and can handle large datasets.

Phase 2: Preview & Validation

See exact counts of what will be imported. We'll flag any validation issues (missing required fields, format problems, etc.) before anything is committed.

Phase 3: Fix Data (if needed)

If validation finds issues, fix them in your source system and re-export. You can re-import as many times as needed—it's safe and designed for iteration.

Phase 4: Final Import & Cutover

Once you approve the preview, we perform the final import. We recommend a brief freeze window for your final export to avoid data changes during migration.

Our Migration Guarantees

No Production Writes Until You Approve

Everything is staged first. You review the preview and approve before anything is committed to your production account.

Everything is Tenant-Scoped and Auditable

All migration activity is logged and tied to your account. You can see exactly what was imported and when.

Legacy Invoices Preserved Intact

We keep your legacy invoices intact—no forced remapping. Historical invoices are preserved as read-only records unless you choose to map them.

Supported Systems

Full migration support available

More systems coming soon. Don't see yours? Send us an export and we'll add a connector.

As long as you can export your data to CSV or Excel, we can work with it. Many facilities successfully migrate from systems we don't have a dedicated connector for yet.

Start from Scratch Option

If your data is messy or the migration isn't worth the effort, you can start fresh:

Import Minimal Data + Invite Clients

Import just the essentials (owner names, emails, pet names) and invite your clients to confirm and complete their profiles. This is often faster and more accurate than trying to clean up messy historical data.

This approach works well for facilities that want a clean slate or have data quality issues that would take more time to fix than starting fresh.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose data?

No. We stage everything first, and you review before anything is committed. Nothing is written to your production account until you approve the preview. You can also re-import as many times as needed if you want to make changes.

Can we do multiple exports while we're setting up?

Yes. Re-import is safe and designed for iteration. You can export, upload, preview, fix issues, and re-export as many times as you need. This is especially useful if you discover data quality issues during the preview phase.

What about data changes during migration?

We recommend a brief freeze window for your final export to avoid data changes during migration. After the final import, any new data (new bookings, owner updates, etc.) should be entered directly into Pet Ops. We'll work with you to determine the best cutover window for your facility.

Do you migrate historical invoices?

Yes, as legacy records. Historical invoices are imported as read-only records. Package and pricing mapping is optional and done carefully with your approval. We preserve your legacy invoices intact—no forced remapping. This ensures you have access to your history without the complexity of trying to perfectly map old packages to new ones.

How long does it take?

Most facilities can be ready in days, not weeks. The timeline depends on the size of your data, data quality, and how quickly you can review and approve the preview. Simple migrations (clean data, small datasets) can be done in 1-2 days. More complex migrations (large datasets, data quality issues) may take a week or two. We'll give you a realistic timeline after reviewing your export.
